Electromagnetic hypersensitivity / need for public protection, radiation-free zones

 There has been a lot happening in the U.S. and around the world regarding
electromagnetic hypersensitivity and the need for radiation-free zones:
  
 Final resolution adopted by the Council of Europe
  
 On April 11, 2011, a committee of the Council of Europe had unanimously
passed a resolution calling for immediate action by its member states to
protect the public from the harmful effects of cell phones, WiFi, baby monitors
and other wireless technologies. A form of that resolution has since been
adopted by the Council's Parliamentary Assembly, and now has the authority of
the full Council of Europe behind it. Every country in Europe is a member of
the Council of Europe. Although Council resolutions do not carry the force
of law, they carry great weight.
  
 The text of the resolution adopted by the Council of Europe on May 27,

Among other things, it recommends that member states "pay particular
attention to 'electrosensitive' people who suffer from a syndrome of intolerance to
electromagnetic fields and introduce special measures to protect them,
including the creation of wave-free areas not covered by the wireless network."
  
 Belgian Parliament to consider official recognition of Electrosensitivity
  
 On July 20, 2011, three Green Party members of the Belgian Parliament
introduced a resolution calling on Belgium to officially recognize
"electro-hypersensitivity" as an illness and a disability. Among other things, the
resolution calls for a requirement, in public places, that zones be established
that are free from WiFi, WiMAX, and cordless phone systems, where the use of
portable telephones would be prohibited. It also calls for courses about
environmental illness to be included in the core curriculum of medical schools.

 EHS Refuges have been created in France and Italy
  
 The first refuges for people with electromagnetic hypersensitivity have
been set up in France and Italy. Information about them, including directions,
and how to contact them and arrange for a stay, are here:

 There is as yet no official EHS refuge in the United States. However, some
people have been moving to Green Bank, West Virginia, where the National
Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) is located. The observatory has a huge
radio telescope that it uses to observe radio signals from the stars. Since
radio astronomers cannot do their work if there is interference from artificial
radio waves, Congress established the National Radio Quiet Zone in 1958.
This is a land area of about 13,000 square miles surrounding Green Bank. Inside
the Quiet Zone no one is permitted to install radio transmitters that will
interfere with the operations of the observatory. In other words, radio
transmissions are not permitted to be aimed at Green Bank. The protected area is
only ten miles in diameter, but as one travels toward Green Bank the amount
of radiation gradually diminishes. Cell phones do not work there.
  
 New study from Louisiana State University
  
 Dr. Andrew Marino and his colleagues at Louisiana State University have
just published a study proving the existence of electromagnetic
hypersensitivity as an organic syndrome. They did a thorough medical workup on a subject
(a female physician) who claimed to have EHS, and showed that she reacted
within 100 seconds of being exposed to low-level pulsed electromagnetic fields
with headache, muscle twitching, skipped heartbeats and other symptoms. This
was a carefully designed double-blind test, repeated many times. Although
the subject could not consciously perceive the field, her body reacted every
time it was turned on. This has just been published in the International
Journal of Neuroscience. The abstract is here:

 Dr. Marino worked for many years with the late Dr. Robert O. Becker,
author of The Body Electric, to elucidate some of the effects of electromagnetic
fields on living organisms. His new study has come to the attention of the
BBC News, which as a result is planning to do a story on electromagnetic
sensitivity. The reporter who contacted me plans to visit Green Bank next week.

I didn't know about the NRAO in Green Bank. I'm to the point where I can't handle fm radio.

My son turned it on in the car & I got instant pain in the temples w dizziness.

I'm can hardly handle driving w the amount of towers  needed for 4G -every 1 mile apart. In many  many cases 2 towers wn a mile.

They also put up the  solar radiating antennas along major streets.

. I was truthful w 1 of his middle school teachers.

I don't know what she thought, but she was understanding.

We have open house this week. I'm going to try, but might not make it. Told her I'd sit in the back of his classes.

My son's blessed, he doesn't feel it, yet or we'd be homeschooling. Two new towers are close, 1  under a mile from the school.  It was bad enough w stray emfs & the florescent lights.

We deserve a safe place to live.

Do you get the same reaction when the same radio is tuned to an AM radio station?
I assume your reaction is to either the car stereo or the speakers, in which case
you would get about the same reaction from FM radio, AM radio, or listening to a
CD.

Yes, now I get the same reaction to AM or FM, CD in the car or any radio.

 Does anyone know what can help w the sensitivity? I'm so reactive it's a drag. I'd like to some life enjoyment.

Do you get the same reaction when the same radio is tuned to an AM radio station?

I assume your reaction is to either the car stereo or the speakers, in which case

you would get about the same reaction from FM radio, AM radio, or listening to a

CD.

Hi Kathy,
 
I live in NJ where over the past year our State utility company PSE&G contracted with Petra Solar to install 200,000 solar panels on utility poles throughout muncipalities within the state.  In July, 2010-- PSE&G then contracted with AT&T to have each and every one linked wirelessly to communicate through the "smart grid." These things can fry you up good.  I don't tolerate them very well, but I'm doing better now that I am using the folded Sof't 'n' Safe material by Less EMF-- this is the 50db attenuation fabric that seems to fully shield me, but only when 2-ply. 
 
These solar panels can completely surround schools, municipal buildings, businesses etc.
and can feel like mini-cell towers when placed in front of private homes.  They are really nasty.
 
Is this the type of solar device which you refer?  Where are you located?

I work in schools and on the neurological unit of a hospital.  It was very discouraging before I found relief with my Soft 'n' Safe fabric.
 
Teachers and doctors are on microwave devices like straight dope.  Aghast.
