Has anyone disabled the electric sear adjustment in their car? I think I need to, but can you still adjust the seat manually? What I mean is I share the car w someone, that both of us need a different seat position. Can we still do that w/o it.? Thanks, Kathy |
I'm not familiar with anyone doing this. You might look at your car manual to see if you can manually adjust the seats. With my car the biggest magnetic field is on the driver's side behind the engine firewall while the engine is running. Next is the center dashboard with stereo/AC - when it's powered on. But even the passenger side has magnetic field reads that are off the chart when using a Trifield meter.
My husband has a new Toyota pickup and it sends out pulsed microwaves everytime he opens his door. Not sure if it's some sort of an OnStar connection or what - he doesn't have a subscription, but I've measured it with a high frequency meter, plus my head "feels" it. So when I ride with him, I exit the passenger door before he opens his door. Earthing.com sells carseat pads fro $39 where the ground wire is clipped to the seat frame near the floor. http://www.earthing.com/product_p/aspk.htm I'm not sure how well these work in the car, but I do know they help my ES when using their pads in my house. It would seem to me that in order to disable the electric car seat adjustment you would need to disconnect the wires that operate the switch. Once you figure out where those wires are, and if you have to remove the seat to get at them, since car models vary, then you can figure out (or a car repairman can figure out) if you can attach an extension wire to it, so that you can connect or disconnect it manually when needed.
But like Marc said, you should probably be more worried about the EMF's coming from the engine and radio. I doubt if the EMF's coming from the wire under the seat are all that high except when the switch is in operation. As far as the grounding pad or wire, a grounding strap attached to the car that makes contact with the road is advisable. And although grounding will help prevent your body from being a conductor of current, it will not block or eliminate the EMF's and you will still be getting exposed. I brought up the subject of shieding the EMF's coming from the car motor about a year ago, because I was having bad reactions and still am, but I would like to bring it up again in case anyone has come up with any new solutions for blocking auto EMF's, other than connecting a solar powered battery. This product claims to block magnetic fields and is used for engine firewalls - GIRON - http://www.lessemf.com/mag-shld.html
I have purchased several RF/MW shielding fabrics from less emf.com which have proven effective. They are willing to speak with you on the phone about what you're looking to shield and help with your specific problem. They also promptly answer emails. C. Johnson, have you found a wireless refuge? Sent from my hard wired computer.
