I've found convection heaters best for me - ones' without timeclocks (synchronous motors=magnetic fields).
New units may need to be outgassed/burnt-in and the dust shaken off the element before switching on, but better than other types of electric heaters. Keep a couple of metres away though and don't forget to ventilate periodically to remove volatiles, normalize the +/- ion balance and humidity. Oil-filled radiators, in my experience, out-gass throughout their lifetimes - but after a couple of hours people typically don't notice any more...
