Hello everyone!
My name is Casey and I'm working towards producing a national television documentary on people who identify as electro-sensitive. Reading through the posts of this group and others like it has been a helpful tool in learning more about what it means to be electrosensitive and I was hoping to connect with any of you that might be interested in participating in the documentary. Our casting call is below. If anyone is interested in talking further, please email me at [hidden email] and feel free to pass this along to anyone you know that might be interested. Thanks so much! Casey ------------------ NATIONAL TV DOCUMENTARY ON ELECTROSENSITIVITY Are you having a hard time living in a world with so much technology? Do you find yourself getting physically sick from exposure to cell phone antennas, wi-fi networks, smart meters, computers, televisions and other electronic devices? Have you eliminated all but the basic tech necessities from your home? Or maybe you've given up the use of cell phones, MP3 players and even microwaves to try and decrease your exposure to Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs). Have you considered moving to a "quiet zone" to reduce your exposure to wireless communication? Are you isolating yourself from the world around you to protect yourself or hide your obsession? If you feel that your quality of life had been dramatically and negatively impacted by your exposure to technology, you may be suffering from Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity. If you appear to be between the ages of 16 and 24, and feel you may be Electrosensitive, email us at [hidden email] and tell us your story. Please include your name, location, phone number (if you have one) and a recent photo of yourself. |

Hi Casey - while it's always nice to get more exposure about this topic to the general public, you didn't indicate what (if any) bias you plan to have for your documentary. I say this because I recently read an article on "Slate" about EHS, and the author was obviously convinced (and wanted to convince his readership) that people with EHS are simply paranoid and imagining that EMF is causing their health problems. I don't think the people being interviewed for that article would have been too happy if they knew the author was going to portray them as "crazy". Marc |
Agreed Marc! We certainly wouldn't want that either. For this documentary, there will be no host or narrator -- each individual will have their own voice that's clear throughout the program. We as producers will take a fly-on-the-wall position in their life, documenting the daily ups and downs while being as under-the-radar as possible. The direction of each individual's story is up to them -- we don't have an end goal/action/resolution in mind. We're merely out to show what life is like for people living with electrosensitivity across the spectrum. Thanks for helping me clarify!

Hopefully the electronics you bring along with you for the filming will be tolerable for the participants. :-) (as it's truly amazing what some people -- including myself - can react to) Marc |

Your age range seems rather limiting to me. But maybe I would say that - I'm 40!

It seems that age plays a huge part in being electrosensitive. People between the ages of 16-20something are still developing their allergic reactions. Headaches are a common problem at schools heavily saturated with wireless. Just call the school nurse.

The fact that she's already said "identify as electro-sensitive" says enough about the biases this documentary may have.
This is not about who a person is, but about having a medical condition. --- In [hidden email], Marc Martin <marc@...> wrote: > > On April 15, giganticproductionstv <giganticproductionstv@...> wrote: > > Hello everyone! > > My name is Casey and I'm working towards producing a national television > > documentary on people who identify as electro-sensitive. > > Hi Casey - while it's always nice to get more exposure about this topic to > the general public, you didn't indicate what (if any) bias you plan to have > for your documentary. The intention of the phrase "identify as electro-sensitive" was to not discourage people who haven't been medically diagnosed as electro-sensitive from sharing their stories. We wanted to be clear that we didn't need a doctor's opinion to verify that one's symptoms are real and that genuine discomfort is occurring.

I'd be interested in listening to what this person has to say.
