Detection and Learning of Floral Electric Fields by Bumblebees

New paper in Science:

Detection and Learning of Floral Electric Fields by Bumblebees

I wonder if this is also true for bees and other insects. And can RF radiation from cell towers or ground currents interfere with this sense?

ABSOLUTELY!!   RF and EMF affect bees and is the MAJOR cause of bee colony collapse, although the establishment would have you believe it is being caused by pesticides causing their immune systems to collapse.  Bees, homing pigeons, bats and even people for starters, have Magnetite in their bodies which acts like an antenna for Microwaves.   (I have many links to great articles on this if you are interested.)

As many Electrosensitives know, you can get woosy or disoriented and ill standing under powerlines or cell phone towers.  Read how sensitive bees are:

Honey bees navigate by observing changes as
small as 0.6% in the Earth's magnetic field (2.5 mG out of 400 mG). Other
studies have shown that other animals, such as sea turtles and
homing pigeons, can navigate using the Earth's magnetic field as a guide. In
order to navigate to precision, it is necessary to have many
magnetosomes with a permanent dipole moment which are able to maintain
their direction in the Earth's magnetic field while being buffeted by Brownian thermal fluctuations.

Our cheap transistor radios can pick up and
separate out hundreds of radio signals at levels of a few hundreds of
microvolts/metre. More

sophisticated communications receivers can
work down to levels of about 10 microvolts/metre. Radio-astronomers work
on informational signals from stars at less than 1 microvolt/metre -
this is a power level of about 0.000 000 000 001 microwatt/cm2 (1
attowatt/cm2 !!). We can now detect and create pictures from signals from
spacecraft at our outer planets using transmit powers similar to those use by
mobile phones of a few watts!

Honeybees have been shown to be sensitive to
magnetic flux differences of 1 nanotesla (10 microGauss)
[4][Theoretically humans could also be sensitive down to less than this level
(pineal thermal noise c. 0.24 nanotesla - Smith, 1985). Various sea
creatures can detect voltage gradients of a few 10's of microvolts/metre.

Biological stochastic resonance from regular
pulsing EMFs can effectively amplify coherent signals (like
power EMFs) by vast amounts.

What arrogant nonsense to suggest that
living systems need to be "cooked" before they realize they
are being bombarded by signals and that microwaves of 100 volts/metre are
harmless to us.

Magnetoreception in HoneybeesAbstract

Magnetoreception by honeybees (Apis
mellifera) is demonstrated by such activities as comb building and
homing orientation, which are affected by the geomagnetic field. In other
magnetoreceptive species, iron oxide crystals in the form of magnetite have
been shown to be necessary for primary detection of magnetic fields. Here it is
shown that trophocytes, which are apparently the only iron granule—containing
cells in honeybees, contain super-paramagnetic magnetite. These cells are
innervated by the nervous system, which suggests that trophocytes might be
primarily responsible for magnetoreception. Electron microscopy also shows
cytoskeletal attachments to the iron granule membrane.

Immune System Collapse of Honeybees from EMF's, not from Pesticides:

New York Times: Honeybees Vanish

The question that begs to be asked is
"Is there a connection between the rise in electrosmog and the weakening
of the bee's immune system - and can this also be related to the 80 or more
human immune system disorders that have increased exponentially with the
increase in background electromagnetic radiation levels?"

The fact of the matter is that it was not
common for people to have herpes simplex - or other herpes-family related
illnesses - back in the 70s. However, a number of herpes family viruses are now
being found to proliferate in people with conditions like autism, CFS, and
Alzheimer's - and members of the herpes-family viruses have infected carp in
Japan, lobster off the coast of Florida, and sardines off the coast of
Australia.

Depending on one's level of thinking, one
can conclude that it is either the virus or rather a weakening of the immune
system that is the cause of these problems.

Research has actually shown that exposure to
certain electromagnetic fields (EMF) - besides weakening our immune systems -
will stimulate the genome of the Epstein-barr virus, a virus in the herpes
family that triggers what is called "mono" in the US and
"glandular fever" in other parts of the world (the UK, Australia, and
NZ).

Can we also assume that these EMFs are
stimulating the genome of the other viruses in the herpes family (e.g CMV,
HH6V, and so on)? It is a logical assumption - for anyone with half a brain -
to assume so, I would think. Of course, further research needs to be done - and
not the research funded by the cell phone industry - which almost always with
lots of fanfare tells us how safe this technology is. Unfortunately, the people
doing this kind of research often have their fundings cut - as was the case
with twice nominated for the Nobel Prize, Robert O. Becker due to pressure from
the DoD because he was trying to warn us about the dangers of this technology
way back in the 1970s.
