Hey everyone,
Now, one of the last things I'd want to do would be have X Rays, or MRI scans...or ultrasound, though ultrasound doesn't sound as bad to me.
However, I've had ongoing issues with my knees for years, and a known injury. I'm still trying to do everything I can to get better without surgery, but this recurring pain and instability makes life tricky - especially when I need to be able to be active if I talk about sluggin' it out in the wilds where there are no cellphone addicts.
It may be that I get sent for X Rays. It may even be that I get sent foran MRI or two. I've had one before; it wasn't pleasant, and I'd prefer they try giving me an ultrasound first, before sticking me in a big magnetic and radiofrequency generating tunnel!
But - if I had to have either of these forms of imaging done, if there was no other choice, do you all have any practical advice about how to prepare myself (aside from dealing with the anxiety)? Anything I can do, should eat, take, supplement wise, that can lessen the load?
Also - if it came down to surgery for the knee ligament(s), I think they often attach things with surgical...implants isn't quite the right word...screws, I guess? And I assume these are made of metal, and stay in place. Idon't really like the idea of something conductive permanently embedded inmy bones. Does anyone have experience with such things, or know if there are alternatives?
Your help is appreciated very much!
R.
