Current sleep problems = recent solar flares?

alstrup
Anyone been having unusual sleep problems this month? I have been suffering from sleep problems for the last 12 days. Found out on the 8th that there had been two large solar flares on the 6th, and now a bigger one on the 15th, with several warnings of possible geomagnecic storms. Dont know if anything happened in between or if the Sun was more active. Wondering if this could be responsible.

Oh yes, On the afternoon of Feb.04 I wrote in my log all _4_ of us in
the house felt bad. Pressure on the head. Only 3 of us felt headache
pain and louder tinitus from it.
Dad seems to not get the pain the rest of the family here does.

I also noticed the x-class flare on Feb.15, but didn't write anything
special down about it. It was a bad day. Lots more sensitive and headache.

Anyone here knows how fast the magnetic energy from the solar flares reach Earth? The particles take a few days. Geomagnetic storms are expected.

Huge solar flare said to jam China communications:

Hi,
That X-flare is now arriving today.
Here is a good pair of tiny images to watch daily:
http://www.n3kl.org/sun/images/status.gif
http://www.n3kl.org/sun/images/kpstatus.gif

And when there is a storm, load this one to see the 3-day graphs:
http://www.n3kl.org/sun/noaa.html
The shock wave 3 days ago is now scrolled off the page, but today's
event is now showing.

If you want to lean more, this is a good link watching sunspots and
coronal holes.

Alstrup, There are two shock waves: the magnetic effects are detected
near the speed of light, and the physical particles can arrive in as
little as a day in the extreme case, or 2 to 3 days on average. It
depends on how energetic the eruption is, and how fast the solar wind
blows, which actually is dependent on the first condition, is it a M or
X class flare eruption or a coronal hole...etc.

As we have been in the solar minimum these past few years, of the 11
year solar cycle, the upcoming few years should be hard on us, as this
is probably the first time ever that so many people are sensitive to, or
on the brink of being sensitive because the background levels of EMR are
at a level never seen before. The accumulative effect may be
significant. Time will tell.

Hi, Stewart,

I was experiencing fibromyalgia--aching all over--due to the recent solar activity, I believe (only on the days solar activity was up).  I have not had fibro symptoms for 9 years, at least, but a neighbor with fibro, and me, had horrible symptoms on the days you mention here.  I know I have increased problems during years with increased solar flares, but I had not put 2+ 2 together with fibromyalgia and solar flares until this post you wrote.

I suspect another problem I have with solar flares is absense seizures.  When the seizures strike, I just freeze wherever I am and whatever I am doing for 10 or 15 seconds.  I began having these again, after about a decade without them, last spring.  I was talking to my husband, reaching for the coffee pot, and froze and he was there to notice it; otherwise, I personally am not aware anything has happened.  I resume my activities and speech just as tho nothing has happened.

Do any of you experience these absence seizures too?  I was thinking of mentioning this to a medical researcher if I could see a long term connection, but it would be more convincing for a researcher to look into if it were more than just me seeing the connection!  ;)  Actually, I think a researcher would be interested in what is happening with your family during solar activity, too.  There are med students everywhere looking for new angles to research.  This one has to be rife with potential!  ;)

Let me know how it goes with you and your family over the next few years in this matter; Stewart.  And thanks much for the solar websites.  Snoshoe had sent them to me in the past but I have not been able to be online much in the recent past to look solar activity times up.  I have been keeping a diary of my health problems, tho, since the past few years I have been quite good, health-wise, despite MCS, ES, CD, etc, etc.... (as opposed to where I was in the 1990s--almost totally bedbound the entire decade.)  It is easy to track and see right away when I am reacting to solar activity now that my health has been more stable.

My best to you and your family,
Diane
