Container for visitor's cell phones

Mariannfm-2
I get a lot of visitors who carry cell phones.

Even though most of them respect my wishes and turn them off, some of the phones still really get me, especially after a couple hours of their presence.

I'm wondering if there is a box of some sort that I can have people put their phones in to block the signals the phones seems to emit even when turnedoff. If a strong enough shielded box were available that friends could put their phones into without turning them off, I'm sure they would be happy for the convenience of not having to find the off button.

Is there anything like this on the market? If I were to make my own, what products would you recommend using. Would an aluminum kettle with a lid work?

Thanks for your input.

LessEMF can give you ideas on making one with their materials.
I think I've seen a bag sold, but solid metal is better.

A pressure cooker with bare metal contact between lid and pot
would probably work very well. Aluminum is ideal, but I think
any metal will do fine. In fact any pot with a lid might make
a big difference. Microwave ovens come to mind, but
their seals use interference and so may only work well with 2.4 GHz,
which is not most cell phones.

I've been told that conventional ovens work better. They have
thicker metal and more heat-proof windows.

An unpainted ammo box should work well--best not to put the phone
right on the bottom, but on a cardboard box or something to suspend
it near the center of the box. Try this also with pots.

You can buy professional enclosures... these guys sell some for police... so
that a criminal can't somehow remotely erase evidence on their cell phone,
starting at $50 for a bag, that actually has pretty impressive specs, at
least for the microwave part (you might also be reacting to the voltage
converters which are much lower frequency)

It's a good idea because turning off the phone causes a strong
microwave pulse unless you just pull out the battery. FYI the cell phone
battery may run out quicker than expected in such a box if the phone is on.
