Cable w/o wifi

KathyB

I need to know if wifi can truly be disabled
from a phone co's high speed fiber optic internet/cable system? They're
telling me  it can. My daughter mentioned ethernet cables & knows
how to turn wifii off.

Why do they do special wiring? Is it to
place fiberoptic wiring inside? I said no to their new phone system that
used wireless. Are their wired DVR's safe? Do their DVR's  have hidden
wifi antenna's?

We have DSL now, running slow. If it's safer
I'll keep it. I got rid of our satellite, beyond pain from the unit
itself,  their DVR's share a wireless single.

Only looking into to save on our bill.

We have to rewire, have aluminum which I know is bad. See shocks each time plug & unplug.

Thanks, Kathy

I don't know if this is the same in all countries, but usually you must
subscribe to wifi and pay extra for it. If you don't have the
subscription you can only use the Internet through cables or a WLAN (not
a good idea either). Of course if your computer or other device is
enabled for wifi it's better to turn that off, which depends on the
device how to do that. But if there's no wifi signal in your home then
the device can't pick up anything and it shouldn't do too much harm (I
suppose). We don't have any wireless things in the home, no cell phone
either. And no intention to ever change that.

I don't know about all countries either.

We're  in the US I just know it's fiberoptic wifi based internet & digital cable shared over an IP protocal. I'd have to refuse the phone system it's wireless.

They advertise you can interact w the DVR w a cell phone. So I don't know if it can be disabled if it's a factory default setting.

We have DSL split on our landline w a modem w ethernet cables.

We only have cells for emergencies. Otherwise they're not on.
