Cable question

Tryingtoheal
Mark,

What is the device you had put on to attenuate a cable TV signal you
mentioned? Can we put it on ourselves or need a tech?

Do you use anything to shield a computer screen?

Thanks, Kathy

I don't remember exactly where I bought them online, but a quick search
shows something similar:

  http://powerful signal.com/attenuators.aspx

I got some different strengths to see how much I could attenuate
the cable signal without causing problems with the TV reception.
Our cable company delivers a signal strong enough to feed 6
TVs in the house, but we only have one, so I don't really need
all that strength.  I just added this where the coax enters
the house from the outside.

This certainly helped with my symptoms, although it's possible
that I would have gotten used to it without these attenuators.

I tried a couple grounded screens over a decade ago, but they
didn't help any noticeable amount, so I stopped using them.
My solutions for computer screens are:

-- putting the monitor at the back of the desk (far away from me)
-- running at a relatively low resolution (easier on the video card,
and also easier to see at a distance)
-- dimming the fluorescent backlight (haven't tried this with an LED
    monitor)
-- making sure the refresh rate is low (60 hz)
-- using EMF protection devices (Quantum Products, mostly)
-- returning any monitors that are still intolerable after doing all
   of the above.  :-)
