Did they affect you in any way?
I'm not sure if they help with ES but they sure cleaned up the power. I have 3 of them now, one for my TV/Audi, one for my Computer set up and one for my expensive air cleaner |

My problem with power strips in general is that they caused me to feel worse. I figured it was the surge protection circuity, or something. The Furman strips were noteable in that they didn't make me feel worse. That's it. The Quantum power strips are actually the only power strips that made me feel better.
But yes, when I tested a bunch of power strips for noise reduction, the Furman's did do well. Marc |
I noticed an issue with my battery backup UPS so I use the Furman instead. The Quantum Strip I have I notice nothing at all from, but their 6 outlet wall plug I bought from work really did seem to do something, but I think it partly has to do with the quality of the product they manipulate. The strip I have from them is the cheapest one they could find, as a surge protector it looks like it would be worthless, while the 6 outlet plug is an APC and it's possible it would help by itself. I was quite surprised at the piece of crap they used for a strip. Steve

Yes, the power strips I got from them are now about 12 - 15 years old, and they were using a different manufacturer back then. I have no idea what they are using now.
It can also make a difference in which outlet you plug it into, so if you noticed nothing when plugged into one outlet, one thing you can try is to plug it into a different outlet. Marc |
I will try that, thanks

Generally, with the Quantum strips, my rule of thumb has been to plug whatever is bothering you the most into it. OR, plug it in to the outlet closest to you. But I've sometimes just experimented with the 3-outlet version in different outlets, with nothing plugged into it, and that can change things. I suppose that depends on how the area is wired, where the wiring for the different circuits are located, if there are wiring errors, etc.

I'm using it with air purifier plugged into it at my mother's place for when I stay over. of course I could be getting a reaction to other things that the strip couldn't possibly counter-act like Smart Meters, but I think a good surge protector helps somewhat by itself. They should really use a better quality strip like APC. What they sold me would cost $10 in a store. I didn't have room for the 6 outlet strip they sell that seems to help at work so I just kept the strip

Don't throw accusations around when you don't know someone. Are you ES? what do you use? Nothing should be ruled out a priori without trying.

Now that I got the rid of the aquarium, I have enough relief from the burning that I can notice which devices are making it happen. I have one older laptop that starts it up within minutes, and now I'm finding my TV is also doing it. Do you think that power strip could help with something like a TV? You said you had problems with a CTR TV, did you ever have problems with a LED TV?
I'm also wondering if the chemicals inside might have something to do with this burning? This TV smelled horribly like electronics when it was new, and still smells some when it warms up. I really don't like that smell, and found some electronics smell terrible when new, while others not as much or not at all. Any thoughts on this? |

Sailplane,
If the burning face continues and you cannot get a hold of it, I suggest you get a Mac Mini, so you can put the HD and cables several feet away from you. You can buy a small Monitor and mouse and the HD and the accessories are portable enough to put in an attache case. Of course, you don't have the luxury of charging the battery. Always a plug in. I have been surviving with the Mac Mini. It is definitely not perfect but way better than any laptop. People tend to position themselves closer to Laptops than to Desktops. You said the Gause meter showed the EMF fields were low. And you said your router is inducing E fields in the CAT5 cable that plugs into your laptop. Sounds like there is a significant filed of dirty electricity emanating out from one or all of these devices and the cables. Sometimes these dirty electricity fields can emanate out 1-6 feet. I find Laptops have more dirty electricity than Desktops. Laptop computers have an external Switching Mode Power Supply so it can be used with a mains socket as power source, or to recharge the laptop's battery, so there are significant dirty EMF emissions coming from the Switching Power Supply. Dirty electricity on desktops is coming mainly from LCD monitors, HDMI cables, unshielded wires. EM noise generated by an SPS is partially radiated into the surrounding space and the rest travels along the output wires and reaches the device connected to the power supply. In other words, it is both radiated and conducted. Technicians found that noise at low and middle frequency is virtually canceled by a simple passive filter, but the high frequency noise is not. Large LCD monitors are the source of most dirty electricity on desktop computers. The only solution they found to avoid effects of SPS in LCD monitors, TV's, Laptops, was to replace the original power supply with a customized linear power supply, designed and built very carefully to have extremely low EMF waves. The V/m radiating and conducting from an unshielded cord can be harmful if it is near your body or passes near a metal object that can spread the field to a larger distance. So I wonder if your tin foil wrap is more of a conductor than a shield? Any other metal objects near your dirty cables and sockets? You could try shielded cords. A shielded cord will block the electric field significantly, but it will only slightly reduce magnetic fields, because magnetic fields can only be absorbed by ferromagnetic materials. But a shielded cord would be better than not having one at all. Do you have a Smart Meter at work or home where you plug the laptop in? Smart Meters impart lots of dirty electricity and RF onto outlets, wiring and electronics. Maybe some of this dirty electricity is RF being picked up from your outlet or the wires?? Grounding will not eliminate the dirty electricity. There are some filters that claim to reduce dirty electricity, but by the time you get done paying for these plug ins, you could have gotten another computer or purchased a low EMF laptop. While these devices are burning our skin and face, think of what they are doing to our eyes, that we can't feel! First comes burning skin, then severe headaches, then tinnitus, etc. In my experience, your body has had to accumulate a significant level of EMF before your face starts burning. A burning face is like the whistle on the teapot going off to tell you the water is boiling. You may not feel it, but the frequencies are in your body damaging DNA, altering blood chemistry and causing a myriad of negative effects. Putting on sunscreen seems feeble since the EMF's are being absorbed by your arms and neck and hands as well. In my experience, when you have reached the point of fight or flight or when your body knows it is under attack, then you start having symptoms as a way to warn you of the danger. Just wanted to update this thread that the issue is solved. If the laptop is run on battery, the burning is gone.. I haven't had it for a long time now =) I also shielded the signal from two cell towers that was coming into my house, which I think also helped.
