Hello Everyone, I live in Michigan and I have just been informed that we may have our first moratorium "banning" smart meters in the city of Warren (which is a pretty good sized city!) I don't have details yet, but THIS IS HUGE NEWS for Michigan. Further details to come on the moratorium this coming Monday. I'll keep you posted. The couple who have been plugged away and pestering Warren's City Council have worked at this tirelessly. Check out their website at: www.W4AR.com/smartmeters Of interest here is they met with our utility company (DTE) and they said "there was no mandate on the smart meters. *Of course this is TRUE. However, many people out here have been threatened by the same utility with a shut off if they didn't get the smart meter put on. Hmmm...... In any case, this is a HUGE VICTORY!!! Blessings to All, Lizzie [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
Hi Lizzie,

My fellow activists in that area have been "pounding" that area since this past January. They are an older couple who were one the first "known" to be "threatened" with a shut off . They took the ball and ran with it, and I am so proud of them. They probably went thru literally hundreds and hundreds of people, until they found probably only 30 or so, who would keep calling city hall every day bugging the crap out of the bureaucrats until they begged for mercy, or in this case, said okay okay, we'll do it if it means you guys will just shut up. This is huge, but I cannot find anything on the internet. Any official updates? By the way, Warren is the 2nd most populous city in Michigan, after Detroit. As for the W4AR website, I had trouble too, just start at their homepage.
Thank you. --- In [hidden email], Elizabeth thode <lizt777@...> wrote: > www.W4AR.com/smartmeters > Lizzie ... we may have our first moratorium "banning" smart meters in the city of Warren (which is a pretty good sized city!) Yea, no offical update yet. I expect to see it the www.stopsmartmeters.org when IT DOES GO OFFICIAL. And you are right, Warren is a huge town. What W4AR did was have people keep calling their city hall and bugging them....until they did it basically just to shut them up! Lizzie.....it'd be wonderful if I could say that hundreds and hundreds of warren people were on board...but it just shows what a small dedicated group of people can do!
