Best solution for using wi-fi briefly

alinepapille
I am going to be without cable internet for a month or more while I am between places. I work from home (and don't have a car so can't get to internet cafes easily) and I desperately need it, so I am trying to figure out a short term solution.

I probably could handle wi-fi for short periods of time if the modem is placed as far as possible so I'm wondering if anyone knows how the services compare in terms of signal strength......or any other suggestions you may have.

Thanks,
Aline

I guess the first question is whether you have access to a wi-fi
internet source?  If not, then you should consider using 3G internet.

In either case, you can buy USB devices that receive wi-fi or 3G
internet, and you can buy long USB extension cables so that all
of the wireless traffic is taking place far away from you.
