B12

KathyB

Do most of you know how much B12 taken orally is needed to correct a deficiency?

My doc says 500 mc. is enough. The shots caused heart palpitations & extreme anxiety.

Doc is refusing to run bloodwork to make sure it's not anything else.

I'm sorry, but I can't handle an MRI.

WISE move on refusing an MRI....SMART MOVE!
-like anyone in their right mind needs MORE RADIATION!
As for B-12?
Which form of B-12?
There are two, and one has to be digested/converted by the liver..which puts more stress on the LIVER.
Which one and which brand are you trying?
Please understand that the human body is not like a gas tank. When its running on empty from deficiencies,
ya can't just say "fill ER UP!"
It takes time to replenish the body's store of nutrients. Be patient....and also, in this day and age, with all
the toxins we are constantly exposed to, with the foods being deficient in nutrients, it is quite common for
people to be very low on many nutrients and minerals. So what I'm saying is, while B-12 deficiencies are common,
it is NOT the silver magic bullet they make it out to be. When most of the nutrients/mineral issues are addressed
is when you will feel the most difference. Otherwise, taking a few important nutrients when the body is lacking
in 10 or 12 others....It is an important nutrient...but it does not stand alone is what i"m saying.

RE: B12

Just wondering how long it will take.

http://www.solgar.com/SolgarProducts/Vitamin-B12-500-mcg-Tablets.htm

This says I need more.

In a study of 64 patients taking 500 mcg of oral
B-12 daily the lowest absorption rate was 1.8 mcg.  Since this is less
than the 2 mcg daily requirement a 500 mcg dosage would be
insufficient.  In most cases the mean absorption rate is 1.2 percent of intake.

Re: B12

alstrup
This is ordinary cyanocobalamin, which has to be converted. The two active co-enzymated forms of B12 are methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin (dibencozide)

These two forms of B12 have different functions in the body, both are equally important. People with low adrenal function are not able to methylate properly,
so there will be a deficiency of methylcobalamine and folate.

The best B12 product I have been able to find is Source Naturals, Advanced B-12 Complex, 5 mg, 60 Tablets which contains both B12's in sublingual form

Thanks, I should have realized. That explains why I didn't get a start up reaction w this product.

First time I took any. Now I understand another reason I'm low. I didn't know enough on methlylating.
