Anyone know of a low EMF television?

Catherine
Hi Everyone

I need to replace my TV but don't know which ones are low EMF.  I'm not concerned about low frequency emissions, as I sit 8ft away from it, but I am concerned about wireless emissions.  I've got an ethernet connection, but I don't think that will stop the emissions if they have a Bluetooth connection that you can't switch off.  Any suggestions?

Thanks very much

Cath

I think Sony "commercial displays" are the best in this regard. As there are various things to avoid with modern TVs, and you can avoid them all with the Sony commercial displays.

There is RF from the remote (e.g. wi-fi, bluetooth).  The Sony's have an old-school infrared remote.

There is bluetooth and wi-fi from the TV.  You can disable both of these in the settings of the Sonys.

There is LED backlight flicker.  This can also be disabled by turning off the fancy motion enhancement settings.

The one downside of a commercial display is that it has no built-in TV tuner.  So you can't just get over the air broadcasts or plug a cable connection into it.  But it can run apps (via ethernet), you can plug in a cable box, Blu-ray player, DVD player, Roku streaming box... anything that has an HDMI output.  They may no longer come with stands, although not too long ago they had models with stands.

I get these Sony's from B&H Photo (online).  They come in a variety of sizes, 32", 43", 50", and higher.  Probably the higher sizes are worse for us, I've never gone above 50".  There is also choice of LCD panel, VA or IPS.  IPS has wider viewing angles (if multiple people are watching from around a room), while VA panels have more contrast (as long as you aren't off to an angle while watching).

This is about as "low EMF" as you can get in a current TV.

Example model.

And if you can live with smaller sizes and no remote control, a flicker-free computer monitor with an HDMI input may also work. I remember watching TV on a 26" display, and there are lots of computer monitors these days that are 23", 24", 27".

Thanks very much, that's very helpful.  I would never have found out all that myself!
