My house is flooded with ants everywhere. I tried all the natural things like baking soda & vinegar & it didn't work.
My husband is about to spray with chemicals if I don't find a solution quick. Is there something he can spray outside that is not toooooooo toxic for me???? Maybe he can do it when I am in Rio Rico?! HELP!!!! Loni [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
Hi Loni,
Spraying is a less effective and more dangerous solution for your family. Unless you have really small children or pets, you can put strips of wax paper spread with shortening (like Crisco) and sprinkled with borax powder behind and under furniture in your rooms. Place these especially near where you see the ants entering. Borax is not supposed to be toxic, tho I would not want a child or animal to get into it. The shortening is just for a sort of glue to keep the borax powder in place. My building biologist told me that ants, termites, and cats are particularly attracted toareas with high electrical ground currents, btw. So no surprise they like your house! Another idea would be to get "ant stakes" that you place into the ground around the outside of your home. These used to be available at home and garden centers, but now we have to get them from an exterminator here. These are very effective and also they do not expose people's lungs and air to pesticides. (Tho you won't want your kids playing in the dirt around these.) Take care, Diane --- On Thu, 9/11/08, Loni Rosser <[hidden email]> wrote: From: Loni Rosser <[hidden email]> Subject: [eSens] Ant Control/HELP ME!!!!!! A simple way in to get rid of ants, is washing powder (which one uses in
washing machines). Hi Loni,
My friend told me aspertame ( in Nutra Sweet), kills ants. I looked it up on the internet and I found this interesting discussion, which includes several people talking about natural ways that that worked for them. http://doug-greens-gardening.blogspot.com/2006/08/ant-control-need-your-help.html I hope this helps and things work out.
