I measured the diameter of a piece of aluminum wire that I cut out of a screen, and it's 0.001" (as per my micrometer). That's the same thickness as Reynolds aluminum foil:
https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-aluminum-foil/But the roll of screen felt a lot heavier, and the weights listed on Amazon seem to back that up:
https://www.amazon.com/Phifer-3000031-36-Inch-100-Feet-Screen/dp/B000H5RSAS(10.1 pounds for 300 square feet)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XS4WLQG/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&th=1(5.4 pounds for 600 square feet')
I have some foil on order and will measure the thickness and weigh it when it arrives. If Amazon's numbers are correct, the foil is a little more than a quarter the weight per square foot.
Home Depot wants $84.43 for a 3x100' roll of screen, so the foil would be a bit less than one sixth the cost per unit area.
