We just visited an off-grid B&B that has a neat way to shower. You heat water (choice of propane or wood stove). Put it in a 5-gallon bucket by the shower. Turn on a little battery-powered pump that pumps the water up through a hose inserted into the bucket, to the shower head.
My husband was concerned that 5 gallons might not be enough for his shower, but 5 gallons is actually plenty as long as you turn off the pump while lathering and don't stand there too long. We ought to be conserving water anyway.
The batter is charged via a solar panel.
Using my method, of just pouring water from the bucket over myself with a large plastic glass uses much less water than using the shower. Requires no pump, battery or solar panel.
