Hey everybody,
I was told that to safely power a small Netbook computer I may get on an auxiliary 12V battery, whether it's a car battery or battery starter with DC output or deep cycle 12V battery, I need a "regulated" 12V DC to DC converter, to protect the computer against voltage spikes and drops. This much I understand.
The part I'm wary of is the "regulation". Does that mean switching, or other nasty frequencies? My whole reason to go DC power is to *avoid* the switching from AC power, but now this regulation thing has me confused.
I've looked around on Google, but can't seem to find what I'm after. Can any of you help, or suggest such a regulator that doesn't cost an arm and a leg which not only controls the voltage, but provides it cleanly without switching?
I really appreciate it.
Thank you!
