Vehicle window or home RF blocking window tint

Elle
This post was updated on .
Is there a brand of window tint available in the U.S. to block RF?  Or reduce exposure by 50% or so...?

Then is the tint safe to use in the car or will it cause more symptoms/issues inside the car?
My concern is that it could reflect the Rf coming inside the windshield.

I searched older posts but not seeing a brand or if this is a good idea for most people.

Hope everyone is doing well.  :)

Thanks!

Elle, yes, Lo-E brands have a metallic film applied which blocks RF.  There are various types of Lo-e glass to do various energy efficiency things depending on the climate where one lives.  I just tested Lo-E 366 with an additional application of i89.  The RF reads outside the building were around 50 uw/m2.  Inside behind the Lo-e glass it measured an impressive 0.1 uw/m2.

If you wish to apply a film to existing windows, the 3M Scotch window tint sold by safelivingtechnologies works great for blocking RF.

Thanks, I'm just afraid of any potential reflecting effect that could make it worse inside the car?
Do you have some on your car windows?  :)

Home Depot Mirror film.. works way more than 50%, for me it was like 99%..
It's called Gila Window Film and it's like a mirror once it's put on, so it has a lot of metal. Blocks sun/light a lot though, for that reason I don't like it..
I put it myself on the car, it is difficult because it doesn't shrink with a heat gun, and no experienced tinter will attempt to put any tint for you that is not their own tint.

I did the rear windshield , mostly because cars behind use radar sensing technologies, so I find it helps.
It doesn't make the level higher because it bounces back as far as I can measure. Because probably whatever bounces back is still less than whatever is coming in from there if it was open.

I tried another auto metallic tint but it didn't block much.. that one shrinks properly, it's made for auto. Almost no tinter uses heavy metallic tint any more, and the more metallic they are the more mirror like.. so difficult to use that on the front for safety, because it's dark.

IMO overpriced "RF" film is probably very close if not same as the Gila film.. I had huge reduction through any window I put it on. the problem became the rest of the wall/frame etc.. after that.

I have 3M Scotch Tint on a camper's windows where RF outside measures around 30-50 uw/m2 - inside with the film is 0.1 uw/m2, so it is not reflecting or allowing RF to enter in.  If a wireless signal was already present inside then it would just reflect it back in and would most likely feel worse than without the film. So I make sure not to allow wireless devices inside.

A very ES friend has taken metal window screen and cut it into sections for all windows including windshield and the roof on the interior of her car.  She applied duct tape to all cut sides and then applied it to the car's interior with self adhesive velcro strips.  It didn't look bad, and she says it's enabled her to still be able to survive visiting cities.
