Need to buy a computer/laptop, advice please...

kara
... with low or relatively low radiation?
I need it mostly for internet, surfing, sometime watching youtube.
I have read that low precessing power is better for us, but on the other hand if the computer is too slow I end staring at a screen too long unnecessarily.
I used to like macs, but I don't like their policy that you can't change the battery yourself, plus I've heard that they are radiating badly, not sure if true or not.
Any experience with laptops (I could add a separate keyboard) that you think is ok, or that that I should avoid?
I prefer smaller displays (11,6 inches, for instance).
New/old models, does it make a difference? Brands that are better that other (or models) and brands/models to avoid?
Happy to hear if you have any sort of suggestions. Thank you.

I also tend (and prefer) to work quickly, so a super slow computer would not be good for me.

Or maybe there is a (new) brand specialising on low emf computers? The same would be great for cars, btw... in the future hopefully... Well probably not. In any case, happy to hear any sort of advice from you.

What about screen magnifiers? Good or bad idea?

I have an Acer Chromebook 14, which is a "cloud computer" designed to only go on wifi so it has no spinning hard drive, which is a source of magnetic fields on other computers. Of course I don't use it on wifi, I use it with an adapter cable to plug into my landline internet cable. Turn off wifi and bluetooth on computer and there is hardly any EMF output. Of course there is little storage space, but maybe you could buy an external hard drive. Hope this helps.

There are always solid state hard drives (which are said not to have any moving parts).

I react to most USB 3.0 flash drives, so even though there are no moving parts, there is still something to react to.  Perhaps its the circuity that causes the activity light to flash, as the one flash drive I do not react to has no activity light.

On the old vs. new models, I guess that depends on what operating system you are planning on putting onto it.

If it's a relatively new version of Windows (e.g. Windows 10), then I would assume you would need something relatively new.

I use desktops myself except when travelling, and when travelling I use an old Lenovo Thinkpad X200, with Windows 7 on it, SSD hard drive, and a 12" screen.  Seems tolerable enough to me, although the Windows 7 part is not ideal (since Microsoft has abandoned it).  I like the old Lenovos because the built-in keyboard is very ergonomic, unlike the newer ones that I think would give me carpal tunnel rather quickly.

Ok thanks .
My laptop now works only with the cable to the battery charging which is not good at all I feel (old MacBook, and changing battery is complicated/expensive, plus I think there are other problems with it, as it shuts down very often.

Would other Lenovo Thinkpad X models also be fine? What about windows 10, it wouldn't make a difference compared to the older version, radiation wise, or?
Sorry, I'm really not good in technical stuff, and especially concerning Pc as I have not used one since 2014.
So what i need to look for: SDD, and...?
Thanks again

Well, I've tried several different models over the years, one was bad, but that could have been the non-SSD hard drive.  Also one could react to the display or other components.

My wife has a newer (but still not new) Thinkpad X250.  It has Windows 10 on it.  This was the last model that came with both an ethernet port and a VGA output port on it, if that matters.  The lack of those in latter models could be handled with a docking station and/or adapter I think.

I don't think Windows 10 makes a difference radiation-wise.  Other than it wants to send information back over the internet, which can be disabled.

Not sure if all SSDs are tolerable or not.  I've been using Intel SSDs from around 5 years ago (the 535 series) and have had no issues with them.
