Disability?

Steampunk
I am in the process of last appeals for Disability, I original applied because of Type 1 Diabetes. All the work I can get here in the U.S is all manual labor jobs and as you know they keep increasing the pace. Every job I get I get close to passing out and being unable to treat oneself with meds or correct low bloodsugars.
I wanted to see if anyone had advice on trying to go the EHS route now since they don't seem to think diabetes is "good enough" for assistance.

Any experiences? I've tried also for getting a diagnosis for my chronic fatigue and inflammation and chronic pain. No one wants to acknowledge it, but it got to be EHS.....

Hello Steampunk, I'm in another group where a member was the first in the country to win an SSDI case for EHS back in 2012.  Her name is Anne Mills, and she has just begun to speak out about this and has written a book called, All EMF*d Up, which is listed on Amazon.  I will forward her reply to your post below asking for info on SSDI.

I do have a very ES friend who has obtained SSDI, however she did not list her disability specifically as that - she proved with doctor's letters that she has cognitive problems and painful, screaming ears when exposed to EMF which was linked to her occupation.

Here's Anne's reply:
"Hello Bonnie,  It would be great if there were more EHS sufferers that were able to get disability. Since she is in the last appeals, i don't know if they would have to start over, as there are hoops to jump through with every illness, and i believe they would all be different.  I didn't have to take tests related to diabetes, in example.  This person needs diagnosis letters for EHS, and to train her lawyers as to what EHS is all about.
I have written how I went about getting SSDI in my book.  It shows papers I used and my process. The court plus appeals took me a little less than 2 years, starting from scratch.
Hope this helps.

If I could I would, unfortunately it's not seriously medically recognized all over and I don't know if we'll ever see it get there. I would love to be able to work more jobs, I would love to be able to drive, and I would love to be able to participate in more activities involving EMR exposure with friends and family without getting extremely ill but in this state I can't. Only one person I know, understands and doesn't look at me like I have 3 heads. Our conversations only go there occasionally because we're both used to working with computers and I unfortunately have to explain sometimes that my PC needs to be special built down to the operating system just for me to able to handle it daily and I can't play modern video games without getting sick. If a location is bad enough my body can go into shock though I've only had a couple places I been that were that bad luckily. One was a store that sold a lot of tech and had a router right behind the counter, one of those giant CRT TV's, and multiple game consoles going at once. It felt as if someone deleted a chunk of my brain, replaced the empty space with pure horror, put my face in a microwave, and I started getting real dizzy and shaky. My body wanted to jump out of its skin. The worst normally is needing to go into the AT&T store for something level where if I stay for more than few minutes I'll be extremely uncomfortable and a neurological wreck for the next couple days. Yet the people who work in these places are doing just fine, I sometimes wonder what kind of paradise it must feel like to be able to do anything with technology like that without your body having a melt down. No one knows what they have till its gone.

Thanks for you guys responses. I'll check out the books and references cited.
Right now I'm trying to simplify my life and live in a 16ft Yurt without electricity and electronics.
Right now I'm waiting for a WW2 oil burning stove to come in, as its too cold to move into until then.

I'll document my new living arrangement here soon. It is also a way to live cheaper, acquiring ww2 - Vietnam era military camping gear to use.

I tried to get disability in 2012, and not only could I not find an lawyer who was willing to take me as a client (the one who considered working with me said it would get nowhere unless I claimed my symptoms as psychosomatic, which I refused to do), but the ruling came back that I was schizophrenic, but not schizophrenic enough to keep me from working - as a landscaper?!  The really creepy part was that - I kid you not, they sent us paperwork on this afterwards - there were actual government agents that followed us to one of my meetings with an SSI physician as well as scoping me out at home by coming to the door and acting the they were FBI looking for a missing woman, picture and all!  These people have no interest in helping us.  I'm amazed that anyone has actually managed to get disability for ES.
